Santacon IS santarchy

Santacon & graffiti

santacon

Was a huge blast. Hundreds and hundreds of us dressed as Santa
carousing around town, filling up bars, sidewalks, and local parks. It
was a great way to see the town, watching the reactions of the locals,
stepping out of store fronts with expressions of bewildment or
childhood grins.

Graffiti & litter make you deviant

Just read this in Nov. New Scientist:

"a candid camera style study shows that when we are confronted with
signs of behaviour deemed antisocial, such as graffiti or litter,
we're more likely to behave antisocially ourselves"

Fairey, Baseman, KidRobot. (Or, I got my Obama Victory Stickers in!)

Remember those Obama victory stickers that Fairey made for MoveOn.org? Well, they arrived and are gorgeous. Good quality vinyl stickers, err, removable bumper stickers. They're also selling 24″ x 36″ posters.

Hugo reads chomsky!!

See, Hugo Chavez had this "thing" for Chomsky's book back in 2006

Did you notice the BurningMan sticker on the bottom? "Dream On"

Corner 14th and Valencia

The amazing "Mission Mission" blog has the scoop. Turns out the work is from one Paul Insect. Be sure to check out his exhibit at Fifty24SF, now through November 27th. Spend some time on his website, i particularly like the "Add one on for freedom" shot with the circuit-board baby-head.

Stickers, joe, & some hot chick's legs

Taken late night in north beach. You can barely make out the "Union"
street sign in the background

Delivery truck

Delivery truck parked in lot behind the 16th BART walgreens. This was the same delivery truck with the sleeping kid painted on the other side

Zunu's second sign

Those ??? Around her? That's what you feel like hungover and starring
at a menu chokfull of yummy, greasy items. Their drinks menu lists
only silly drink names with kitchy descriptions. But nothing to tell
you what's actually in them!!

Eat at Zunu's for biscuits & gravy!!

So this may not be considered grafitti, but signage is a huge part of
the culture. I do appreciate the hand-made asthetic of a sign for a
local's brunch place.
